About this practise

This meditation is part of a body-based approach and is inspired by the connection between physical organs, emotional experience, and the subtle energy body.
In traditions such as Chinese medicine, different organs are associated with particular emotions. For example, the lungs are often linked with grief and the process of letting go.
Alongside this, yogic philosophy offers a way of understanding the layers of the body known as the koshas. This meditation gently supports the emotional body, helping to soften and release held feelings through awareness, breath, and stillness.
By working with both the physical body and these subtler layers, the practice offers a calm, supportive space for emotional balance and release.

Understanding the Koshas

In Yogic philosophy, the body is seen as more than just physical. It is made up of layers, known as the koshas, each representing a different aspect of our being.

This meditation series gently works across these layers to support a deeper sense of balance and wellbeing

  • Physical Body (Annamaya Kosha)

The tangible body - muscles, organs, and tissues. This is where we may feel tension, discomfort or fatigue

  • Energy Body (Pranamaya Kosha)

The flow of breath and life force through the body. When balanced, it supports vitality and ease.

  • Emotional Body (Manomaya Kosha)

The layer of thoughts, feelings, and emotional patterns. This is where many of our experiences are held and processed.

  • Wisdm Body (Vijnanamaya Kosha)

The inner knowing, intuition, and deeper awareness that guides us

  • Bliss Body (Anandamaya Kosha)

The quiet, peaceful layer of contentment and connection - often experienced as a sense of calm or wholeness
