Winter Solstice Ritual
A Winter Blessing
May you find stillness in the quiet.
May you permit yourself to rest
May you honour what this year has taught you
May you release what no longer needs to come with you
And as the light begins to return, may you nurture the seeds of what comes next
Happy Winter Solstice
-
The winter solstice marks the longest night of the year, a beautiful invitation to slow down, turn inward, and make space for rest.
Winter doesn’t ask us to bloom
It asks us to breathe
This ritual has been created to accompany your Solquinox Winter Ritual Letterbox and your Winter Solstice guided meditation.. There is no right or wrong way to experience it. You might follow the whole ritual, choose one or two elements, or simply use it as inspiration for your own quiet moments.
Set aside around 30 - 45 minutes, somewhere you won’t be disturbed.
Make yourself comfortable. Let the outside world wait
-
Choose a quiet, comfortable space and dim the lights if you would like to.
Light your Winter tealights (place them in a heatproof vessel and follow our safety instructions), and let their warm glow and seasonal fragrance of fir needle, clove, ginger, lemon, and sweet orange organic essential oils fill the room.
Place your Moon Therapy aromastone nearby and add the blend. One to two drops will add a lovely scent level; adjust to your preference.
If you can, make this a screen-free moment. Put your phone on silent and permit yourself to do nothing else.
You are here
And that is enought
-
Take a small amount of your Sleep Balm and gently warm it between your fingertips.
Apply it to your pulse points (perhaps wrists, temples, or the back of your neck), wherever it feels soothing to you.
Take three slow breaths
With each exhale, imagine releasing something you no longer need to carry.
You don’t have to name it
Just let it go
Now take a moment to notice how you feel
What is your body asking for?
What would it mean to truly relax?
-
When you are ready, settle into a comfortable position and begin your Winter Solstice Guided Meditation.
Let the candlelight, seasonal aromas and stillness around you become part of the experience.
Allow yourself to be guided inward.
This is your ritual to reflect on the season behind you, acknowledge where you are now, and gently consider what you want to carry into the returning light.
There is nothing you need to achieve during this medittion
Simply listen
Breathe
Be present
Press play on the meditation
-
When your meditation ends, stay still for a few moments.
Place your moonstone crystal in the palm of your hands.
Moonstone is traditionally associated with cycles and reflection, making it a beautiful companion for this turning point in the year.
Close your eyes and consider
What am I ready to leave behind?
What have I learned this year?
What deserves more of my attentions?
What would I like to nurture as the light begins to return?
You don’t need to find the perfect answers
If words come to you, write them down
If nothing comes, simply sit with the feeling
-
Winter is a season of planting quietly beneath the surface.
Rather than creating a long list of resolutions, choose one gentle intention for the season ahead.
It might be
I will make more space for rest
I will listen to what I need
I will protect my peace
I will give myself permission to slow down
I will nurture something that matters to me
Write your intention somewhere you will see it.
Then take three slow breaths and imagine that intention settling quietly into you, like a seed resting beneath winter soil.
-
Return to your candle
Take one final breath
Look at the flame and remember
The darkness is not the end of the story
The light will return, slowly and surely
For now, you dont need to rush towardws it
You can rest here
You can be still
You can trust that beneath the surface, something is quietly beginning
When you are ready, extinguish your candle safely
Carry your intention with you into the rest of the season
-
As you prepare for bed, use your Sleep Balm, bedtime massage oil and room spray as part of a simple evening ritual, following the products instructions.
Let this become your reminder that rest isn’t something you have to earn.
It is part of the nature rhythm of life.
If you have time, continue your evening with the Winter mindfulness colouring. Don’t worry about making it perfect. Let your hands do something simple while your mind becomes quiet.
You could also place your lavender sprig beside your bed, creating a small sensory reminder of this moment whenever you use it.

Winter is not empty
Beneath the cold earth, life is preparing.
Your wild bergamot (bee balm) seeds are a beautiful reminder of this hidden work. They need a period of cold to germinate, making winter part of their journey towards becoming something new.
When you’re ready, think about your own intention.
You don’t need to know exactly how it will unfold.
Some things simply need time
