Help Me Have A Mindful Of Calm Range


Hello everybody and welcome back to our little HMOblog! Today, we are introducing the last of our BRAND NEW ranges that will be available from the 1st of December. The third range that we would like to share with you is our “help me feel fresh as a daisy” range, which I would love to tell you about.

Some of you may have already seen the room spray from this collection as it was featured in The Unibox’s November box as an exclusive product! I am sure you will be able to read all about the product on their website and their social medias as well as from their lovely subscribers. We have received some lovely feedback from everybody who has tried it so far so we are very excited for it to be available to everybody from December!

So, why did we create this scent? Firstly, mindfulness is something that is very current in both mine and my Mum’s life. Not only do I incorporate mindfulness into my daily routine but my Mum, Linda, is in the middle of her mindfulness training to become a mindfulness coach. Taking a few seconds, minutes or even an hour out of your day to take a breath, regain control of your thoughts is incredibly important and something that everybody should do. I like to do 10 minutes of mindfulness when I am lying in bed before I go to sleep. Yes, I don’t normally make it to the 10 minute mark without snoring my head off but if I do, it makes me feel so incredibly relaxed and my quality of sleep is immensely better. This range was created with mindfulness and meditation in mind. We have blended frankincense, geranium bourbon and lavender together to bring tranquillity and harmony into your life. Something that we all need.

So, a little bit about the essential oils we have used:


Used to help ease panic attacks, anxiety and stress, Frankincense is THE oil to aid meditation and relaxation. It will ease a troubled mind. In massage Frankincense is wonderful to fight stretch marks as it is a rejuvenating oil, it is truly effective to massage your stomach (in a clockwise direction) to bring a sense if calm during a time if panic.

Geranium Bourbon:

Is a balancing and regulating to your hormones, emotions, body and soul. It is a powerful immune booster, sinus cleanser and builds your resisted e to stress. Massage your abdomen (in a clockwise direction!) to ease period cramps.


One of the best known essential oil, it’s benefits are immense. We use this oil to calm, protect, boost your immune system and soothe muscular aches & pains. You will find Lavender in most our products as it is deeply therapeutic and beneficial to everyone.

As I mentioned in the last blog post, we have been working on these next three ranges for a very very very long time and to have their launch within touching distance is overwhelmingly exciting for us! Each collection has been developed by our own aromatherapist, Linda, who has been working with essential oils for over 25 years. You could say that she knows what she’s doing. Our Summer Range 2017

Welcome to our summer collection “help me bring sunshine to a cloudy day”

When I began to formulate our summer collection, I wanted to create an effective summery blend which will bring summer into your home, as well as helping you to enjoy eating outside. After all, it is vital for our health and wellbeing to get out in the sunshine as much as possible.

I have combined the organic essential oils citronella, lemongrass, peppermint and spearmint to help you enjoy your summer. Citronella and lemongrass are renowned to protect against insects, both contain the chemical constituent, citronellol. Insects don’t like the smell and will avoid at all costs. Also, ants dislike a minty smell and we use two very active mints in our blend. You can add 4/5 drops of our aromatherapy blend into a bucket of water and swill around your doorways, you can safely add our essential oil blend to your floor wash to give a wonderful happy, citrus fresh aroma which help to keep your kitchen fly free.

During the summer months, weather permitting, we spend more time eating outside (until the mosquitos find us that is)! We have a natural soy wax candle infused with our organic essential oils, designed to provide a “safer” zone to deter flying insects. Light your candles and enjoy the summery blend permeate into your dining area.

There are many ways to utilise our “help me bring sunshine to a cloudy day” products, we have listed below some ideas:
1. As mentioned above, burn our soy candle whilst you eat al fresco. Not only will you be left alone but the citrus aroma is just beautiful. Before eating, swill the area under your dining table (outdoors) with a bucket of water and 4/5 drops of our blend.
2. Spray 2-3 bursts of our room spray around your home, the essential oils will keep your rooms fresh and summery.
3. Use our aromatherapy blend in many ways. Put 4/5 drops in a bucket of water and rinse your path, doorstep to deter ants.  Place 3/4 drops in a bowl of water onto your kitchen windowsill to keep flies away and finally pop 2/3 drops onto a tissue and place upstairs on windowsills to deter mosquitos.

Although we cannot guarantee no flies or mosquitos, we are very confident that their numbers will be reduced. Our essential oils will not kill or hurt the insects but will encourage them find somewhere else to hang out!

Be careful, keep all bowls and tissues away from children or pets, animals must not drink water containing our blend of essential oils. Remember to shake our bottles to mix the oils together and finally never leave a burning candle alone or in reach by children.

What is smell…

For something to smell, it must exist as a gas or vapour and be carried into the nose by air. Smells enter the nose by inhalation through the nostrils, but odours can also flow from the mouth into the nose from the odorous components of the flavour of the food.

Only a very small proportion of inhaled air reaches the Olfactory organ, but when it does, the odours can cause us to suddenly recall events from the past, when we associate the odour with a previously experienced emotion.

It is possible to train the mind to focus on the sense of smell, so establishing and developing an Olfactory memory and the power of discrimination of odours.

Essential oils and Olfactory

When inhaled, essential oil particles are taken directly to the roof of the nose, where the receptor cells of the Olfactory system are situated.  From each receptor cell protrude thin hairs called cilia, which register and transmit information about aromas, via the Olfactory bulb, to the centre of the brain.  From here, electro – chemical messages are forwarded to the area of the brain associated with smell.
These trigger the release of Neuro chemicals,  which may be sedative, relaxing, stimulating or euphoric.   Other messages may be relayed to other parts of the body registering the oils effects.  Aromatic particles also travel down the nasal passages to the lungs.
Most people can detect 10,000 different odours (many flavours are smelled rather than tasted).  Research has identified primary smells to be Fragrant, Fruity, Spice,  Resinous, Burnt or foul.

Hippocrates, the father of medicine, said that “the way to health is to have an aromatic bath and scented massage every day”
